BV Project

Blue Valley through the project VALLE LAGOON - VAL DOGÀ, CAPOSILE-VENICE: evaluation of carbon credits in a controlled lagoon environment, focuses on improving the carbon sequestration capacity of Val Dogà.

The aim of the project is to promote Val Dogà, not only as a place of production and fishing, but also as a model of sustainable management, capable of balancing economic and environmental benefits in favor of the fight against climate change and the protection of biodiversity.

The company has also undertaken the certification process according to an international standard to obtain carbon credits that can be sold on the voluntary market, financing further sustainable actions.

Individuals and companies often cannot, in the short term, completely reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Buying credits on the voluntary market allows them to offset those emissions that cannot be avoided at the moment and, at the same time, allows project developers to support activities aimed at maintaining the environment. A carbon credit is a certified, official and transparent instrument that certifies the capture or non-emission of CO₂ through environmental protection projects, created with the sole purpose of offsetting or reducing CO₂ emissions.

Each carbon credit corresponds to 1 ton of CO₂ absorbed or not emitted into the atmosphere.

The Blue Valley project certified according to the VCS standard allows the company to obtain carbon credits, called VCU (Verified Carbon Unit) that can be sold, generating revenues aimed at strengthening and subsequent development of the project.

  • Contributed to the fight against climate change through a CO₂ absorption and storage project
  • Improvement of the quality of the living environment: better air and water quality improve the quality of life of local communities
  • Conservation of biodiversity
  • Environmental restoration: dredging of canals and maintenance of banks and improvement of water quality through management of tidal flows
  • Sustainable production: extensive based on extensive fish farming on natural valley pastures and without the use of feed
  • Local economic development through the promotion of sustainable (extensive) fishing and the training and employment of young people and workers in sustainable practices and biodiversity management
  • Maintenance of a unique heritage of the Venice Lagoon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, and an example of balance between traditional activities and conservation of the natural environment.
